HOW IT ALL BEGAN

In 2023, William participated in his first homeless visit through his high school. A group of students walked around the city of Chicago passing out snacks and some dollar bills to the homeless. The most impactful part of the day was taking the time to stop and talk to each person individually. This made William realize on a more personal level the struggles of being unhoused, and that many of the people had lost their hope. Inspired to help, William continued volunteering for the monthly homeless visits, but he wanted to do more. He had an idea to create care packages that included the essentials, but they would also include inspirational items with the intention to bring a bit of hope and joy into the lives of those who received them.
This was the beginning of Shelter the Soul.
